The missing lyrics are "We all dig the stoppies, haircuts and the graze, and if we really scheme it's lekker when we start on our first phase" Stoppies being the places the troopies stop off before reaching their AO, graze is food and Lekker is Afrikaans for "good"

I doubt you could find anyone on the planet more destructive than Mugabe. The 'new' government is trying the best they can to match the level of depravity - who knows they might just discover the winning formula!.

Judging by the fact the cowardly mainstream media won’t show Ian Smith’s house, for fear of it appearing too humble, in comparison to Mugabe’s mansion, I’m guessing he died with humble dignity. “ you can’t show how stupid we were!”
Alfnir Bjornson some people try to use this as an excuse that Rhodesia government was white prioritizing. This is wrong. Today in Zimbabwe you can meet very many whites that are just trying to get by. The economic system emphasized Learning by one’s family as well as institutions. It wasn’t perfect to any race in particular. By taking from those that could produce you worsened the situation for everyone.
*I didn't go to a first class school in Rhodesia, yet Rhodesia gave me a first class education.* Verrrry interesting claim. 90% of the education budget went to whites (who were entitled to free education), whereas blacks received no entitlement to a free education, and had limited prospects to receive one. Few received even a primary education - you generally only had a chance at one if: - You lived near a mission (missionaries provided free educations for blacks, completely independently and without government support) - You were fortunate enough to be the child of a nanny or cookboy employed with a white family - You were the child of a soldier, police officer, or someone else in a relatively privileged profession Considering this gentleman purports to have not had the right to vote, but had the means to receive an education and emigrate to Canada, I'm not very inclined to believe him (surely that would have at least gotten a spot on Rhodesia's B Roll). *Judging by the fact the cowardly mainstream media won’t show Ian Smith’s house* Ian Smith died in a retirement home in South Africa. Not saying he didn't deserve something a bit more befitting his past, but it's a bit retarded to rage at the media for not making the trip out to Ian Smith's former house in Gwenoru, regional Zimbabwe. *Look at South Africa now under black rule. After the Afrikaaner left the government, it became another war torn, shit economy country* Ummmm.... - What war is South Africa currently embroiled, in exactly? (as opposed to the South African Border war and other messy interventions that happened during the Apartheid Era) - Funnily enough, South Africa's economy did not really go to shit after Apartheid. Their GDP per capita and living standards have actually largely risen since those days, and are projected to do so - South Africa was a crime-ridden country under Apartheid too - in fact, it largely spiked in the years just before Apartheid ended, and has gradually lowered since then *Today in Zimbabwe you can meet very many whites that are just trying to get by.* This is more to do with the fact that as soon as Zimbabwe-Rhodesia became Zimbabwe, the generous social net and institutions that favoured the white population disappeared overnight. This includes: - No more free education for whites, no more 90% of the education going to schools reserved for whites - Healthcare became universal, rather than skewed predominantly towards white communities - No more reserved jobs and occupations for whites - The scrapping of the Native Urban Areas Accommodation Act (1947) meant whites were no longer reserved urban areas, or protected from having to compete with blacks for housing - The end of the Land Tenure Act (1969) meant whites were no longer reserved the best and most fertile farmland Indeed, the fast-tracked land reform that seized white farms without compensation was a stupid mistake, but don't pretend the days of Rhodesia were inherently fair or superior - it simply concentrated the wealth of a relatively modest country (look up the GDP per capita of countries from 1960-1980, you'd be surprised how poorly Rhodesia performed) into a small segment of its population
Sir Pants initially, but by the time of Ian Smith in the 1960s, quality education was available to everyone, though it was highly technical and more geared towards employment in sophisticated industry and agriculture. This was done in part for UDI (Unilateral declaration of Independence), and they had the ‘standard six,’ standing for six years of education, after which many blacks were qualified to work in many professions, provided they did not opt for further education. Unlike Mugabe, who sulked and brewed at sanctions, Ian Smith overcame them and engaged in reforms and substitutional imports. You really don’t vet your claims do you?
@@russianivan9651 While that claim about 6,000 kills per man is probably shit, what isn't shit is that pretty small teams of these dudes could kill nearly half that amount alone with minimal losses.
My family are Rhodies through and through, now in Australia, but I’m proud of all of them, the death of Rhodesia was the death of real men. Rhodesians never die.
They kicked all the whites out and now they are begging for them to come back to their farms. South Africa is going the same way now. Black majority countries never succeed.

@@jeffreay161 I am a Rhodesian born and bred, but many of the people who emigrated to the country from the UK etc loved Rhodesia just as much. For instance, my father was born in England but proudly served in the Rhodesian Air Force and my maternal grandparents were South Africans but bravely lived on their farm during the darkest days of the war. Indeed, most white adults in Rhodesia were born elsewhere, as every census showed. In 1969, for example, only 40 per cent of whites were born in the country. In that respect, Rhodesia had a lot in common with Angola and Mozambique where the white populations grew rapidly in the decades after the Second World War.

*Inhales deeply* We idolize the Rhodesian bush war not because of racism or politics, but because, at its most fundamental level, it speaks to every man's deepest desire to escape his current boring life, and embark on a great adventure. The Rhodesian trooper in his short shorts, clutching his FAL, is a symbol for a man partaking in a great journey of survival, brotherhood punctuated by moments of thrilling action. The defeat of the rebels and renaming of the country to Zimbabwe symbolizes the realization that we are all insignificant ants, and will never get to experience something so thrilling in our lives, and must return to our servitude. Also brushstroke cammies and FAL's are great

The fall of the Republic of Rhodesia, though much underrated, is one of the most important moments in Africa in the 20th century. The end of white minority rule in 1980 coincided with the rapid decline and loss of prestige that Apartheid would experience over the course of the decade, resulting in the complete end of the British and Dutch colonial legacy in Africa. We can say with great certainty that Rhodesia will not return and no phenomenon similar to such a nation will be seen any time soon, and perhaps never again. The young republic was surprisingly prosperous, and in just 15 years it was able to build one of the most efficient counter-guerrilla forces in the world, as well as an extensive musical folk culture. Unfortunately, after the end of the Bush War, figures like Mugabe usurped and destroyed the economic and military progress developed during the Ian Smith government, which although it was not correct to preserve minority rule, was extremely popular among the population: "While acknowledging the priveleged position whites had under Smith, several commentators have latterly agreed whit his claims that many black zimbabweans preferred him to Mugabe whit hindsight, albeit a very low bar. "Smith's image improved inversely as Mugabe's plummeted" Johnson wrote. "When he walked the streets of Harare, Afticans would almost queue up to grasp his hand and wish him well. "If you were to go Harare today (in 2007) and ask ordinary black zimbabweans who they would rather have their leader--Smith or Mugabe--the answer would be almost unanimous", Boynton asserted; "And it would not be Mugabe.""

Verrrry interesting claim. 90% of the education budget went to whites (who were entitled to free education), whereas blacks received no entitlement to a free education, and had limited prospects to receive one. Few received even a primary education - you generally only had a chance at one if:
- You lived near a mission (missionaries provided free educations for blacks, completely independently and without government support)
- You were fortunate enough to be the child of a nanny or cookboy employed with a white family
- You were the child of a soldier, police officer, or someone else in a relatively privileged profession
Considering this gentleman purports to have not had the right to vote, but had the means to receive an education and emigrate to Canada, I'm not very inclined to believe him (surely that would have at least gotten a spot on Rhodesia's B Roll).
*Judging by the fact the cowardly mainstream media won’t show Ian Smith’s house*
Ian Smith died in a retirement home in South Africa. Not saying he didn't deserve something a bit more befitting his past, but it's a bit retarded to rage at the media for not making the trip out to Ian Smith's former house in Gwenoru, regional Zimbabwe.
*Look at South Africa now under black rule. After the Afrikaaner left the government, it became another war torn, shit economy country*
Ummmm....
- What war is South Africa currently embroiled, in exactly? (as opposed to the South African Border war and other messy interventions that happened during the Apartheid Era)
- Funnily enough, South Africa's economy did not really go to shit after Apartheid. Their GDP per capita and living standards have actually largely risen since those days, and are projected to do so
- South Africa was a crime-ridden country under Apartheid too - in fact, it largely spiked in the years just before Apartheid ended, and has gradually lowered since then
*Today in Zimbabwe you can meet very many whites that are just trying to get by.*
This is more to do with the fact that as soon as Zimbabwe-Rhodesia became Zimbabwe, the generous social net and institutions that favoured the white population disappeared overnight. This includes:
- No more free education for whites, no more 90% of the education going to schools reserved for whites
- Healthcare became universal, rather than skewed predominantly towards white communities
- No more reserved jobs and occupations for whites
- The scrapping of the Native Urban Areas Accommodation Act (1947) meant whites were no longer reserved urban areas, or protected from having to compete with blacks for housing
- The end of the Land Tenure Act (1969) meant whites were no longer reserved the best and most fertile farmland
Indeed, the fast-tracked land reform that seized white farms without compensation was a stupid mistake, but don't pretend the days of Rhodesia were inherently fair or superior - it simply concentrated the wealth of a relatively modest country (look up the GDP per capita of countries from 1960-1980, you'd be surprised how poorly Rhodesia performed) into a small segment of its population

You said "real men wear speedos," to which I responded by asking to name one war in which men fought in speedos, since you're comparing a speedo to Rhodesian Brushstroke short shorts that men wore into battle. You dodged the question and started projecting your feelings of male inadequacy onto me. Are you just actually a child? C-shift Report of course orthodox civilization differs a lot from the Latin one, but that’s not so much a case with the educated part of Russian society, at least since the times of Peter the Great. Only those of us who were born and bred Rhodesian know what we had. We may not have it any more but we had something no other country will ever have or achieve.
Only those born and bred? We were all there to do something

For those unaware or confused on some of the things they mention... “mukkas” is South African/Afrikaans slang for “friends”, they also of course mention many towns of significance to the Rhodies (many of which were hosts to battles, like Mukumbura, Umtali, the Montclair hotel, etc)... “ek se” is Afrikaans for “I say”, “tot siens” is Afrikaans for “goodbye”, JOC Inyanga refers to the Rhodesian Joint Operations Center in Inyanga, “wide tar” is a type of road category in Rhodesia (and now Occupied Rhodesia, I will not call it Zimbabwe) indicating at least a two-lane road, FN is the ubiquitous FN FAL rifle used by the Rhodies... the “stoppies” were all the stops made along the way by the Rhodies, getting haircuts and graze (food) along the way, and “lekker” is slang for good or great. Correct me if I’m wrong on any of this!

We idolize the Rhodesian bush war not because of racism or politics, but because, at its most fundamental level, it speaks to every man's deepest desire to escape his current boring life, and embark on a great adventure.

Unfortunately, after the end of the Bush War, figures like Mugabe usurped and destroyed the economic and military progress developed during the Ian Smith government, which although it was not correct to preserve minority rule, was extremely popular among the population:
"While acknowledging the priveleged position whites had under Smith, several commentators have latterly agreed whit his claims that many black zimbabweans preferred him to Mugabe whit hindsight, albeit a very low bar.

It's a long way, ek se
It's a long way from Umtali
But it's wide tar all the way
Well, nearly
Goodbye to the Cecil
Hello the Mont Claire
It's a long, long way to JOC Inyanga
And the crowd's fighting there
It's a long way to Kariba
It's a long way to run
It's a long way from Mukute
But you can do it on your THUMB
With your FN
We love our Sergeant Major, when he drives it on RL
When he takes us on the bush road It's just like going to
Heaven, I'm in Heaven
It's a long way to Llewelyn
It's a long way on the train
We can kwai it to the North Pole, But they'd build one just the same
The parade square
We all dig the stoppies, haircuts and the graze
And if we really scheme it's lekker when we start on our first phase
It's a long way to Mukumbura
It's a long way to jawl
It's a long way from your hometown
But you can have yourself a ball
With your mukkas
Goodbye Bulawayo, tot siens Cecil Square
It's a long, long way to Mukumbura And we're going up there to stir
why jawl when u can slot.
@@Endremael I'm confused, on what both means, I just found the lyrics
@@jacobcriswell3751 Slot refers to the slang term "slotting floppies" which some troops used in the bush war for shooting people. Jawl sounds to me like the afrikaans slang jol(pronounced how you would say jawl in English) which means to party so maybe all the lyrics are wrong and its actually jol or Jawl is some other thing I dont know.
The unknown lyrics are:
"We all dig the stoppies, haircuts and the graze
And if we really scheme it's lekker when we start on our first phase"
The older version is : It's a long way to Tipperary.
The new version is : It's a long way to Mukumbura.
Ice Wallow Come Chico there power chords in that make it slightly different.
German version is Weit ist der Weg zurück ins Heimatland. By the way, i respect Smith
Chicomatsu Slicous newer version: its a long way to Tehran.
It's a long way to Marawi
It could also be "stompies" - cigarette stubs, if I remember correctly.
I also think it is "in our RL" - the Bedford RL truck.
Also stompies were slippers
“ we all dig the stoppies the haircuts and the graze
and if we really scheme it’s Lekker
when we start on our first phase “
Rhodesians never die but mugabe sure did
Australia is what Rhodesia could have been, Rhodesians will always have a home here🇦🇺
When your kill to death ratio is 80 to 1
From 2:48-3:04 the lyrics is:
We all dig the stoppies, haircuts and the graze
And if we really scheme it's lekker when we start on our first phase
I remember Leprachaun playing at Flanagans in 1978. They were an Irish band.
If I remember correctly, it was on the evening that Rhodesia last played Northern Transvaal at rugby under its own name.
Quite apart from an Irish nationalist band, the place was full of bubble-arsed Rhodies, who resented Britain over UDI, and well hammered Afrikaaners, who have never forgiven the Boer War concentration camps.
As perhaps the only Brit present, I didn't dare open my mouth all evening and just hid among the Aussies and Kiwis I was with.
Happy days!

Do you know the name of the clip??
apartide south afrika
Idk, south africa was proud of the apartheid, rhodesia had to say they didnt have it when segregation was a thing anyways
no appartheid was the best time in South Africa. Races have to be seperate and in hierarchy.
@@Latrine1999 there was no apartheid in rhodesia.
@@scipioafricanus2195 Not officially, but segregation existed and it was a minority rule
No. segregation did not exist in rhodesia. Im from there. I know. Yes minority rule because that minorty built that country. Thats what colonies are. They were better off under rhodesia, and all my african friends still suffering in zim agree with me. Dont spread shit about a country you know nothing about
In my former life, i was a Rhodesian bush soldier. Big up from Sweden.
This song is an absolute bop
I listen to this to get hyped to train. A true classic. Good boys those Selous Scouts.
I believe black Rhodesians want Rhodesia instead of occupied Rhodesia

@@frankyboy8513 did you read the god damn joke
